This is the Green rug from the Silai collection, embroidered by hand using thick wool threads in different shades of green, white and dark gray. Its design reinterprets the petit point technique in an innovative way, by using four stitches of different lengths. In this way, designer Charlotte Lancelot is able to achieve tile-like patterns to create four designs based on diamonds, squares, triangles, hexagons, octagons and crosses, thus recreating the mismatched floors that can often be found in old houses.

The Silai collection reinterprets the basic foundations of petit point embroidery through a very specific review of this technique, applied both to the types of stitches and to the scale and thickness of the threads. The attractive patterns of the rugs, poufs and cushions that make up the series are based on just four stitch variations, hand-embroidered by Indian artisans with 100% virgin wool yarns on a PVC grid. The wooden auxiliary tables in this collection add functionality and make it possible to configure the Silai space in the most versatile way. Charlotte Lancelot, designer of the Silai collection Charlotte Lancelot was born and raised in Brussels, where she studied industrial design at the Higher National School of Visual Arts of Cambre. After graduating in 2003, she worked at the office of architect and designer Alain Berteau for two years, before founding her own studio. The work of Charlotte Lancelot is characterized by a deep contemporary revision of traditional techniques and references to the past with new textures and color palettes. Her personal style can be appreciated in all of her creations, including Canevas, launched in 2012, Silai (2015) and Canevas Geo (2018).
